Statement |
Contemplation
contains a series of images of places and |
| |
people
that I photographed before leaving Australia. |
| |
Particular
locations and people were chosen due to the |
| |
relationship
that I built up with them in the past years. |
| |
I
used a pinhole camera to make these images because |
| |
I
wanted to lengthen the time, so that I could bring more |
| |
"moments"
back home with me as visual memories. |
| |
Through
the long exposures (from 3 - 15 min), the people |
| |
were
driven into a contemplation mode simultaneously. |
| |
Likewise,
when the subject became a location, I was |
| |
contemplating
during the exposures (from 5 - 45 min). |
| |
I
consider it was an natural act to contemplate in front of a |
| |
pinhole
camera, because one could do no more than stay |
| |
calm.
Unlike general photography's hunting process, this |
| |
passive
and meditative method allowed me to collect more |
| |
of the subjects' emotions. |
